The Making Of
Script by Lorenz Lammens
PAGE 14
Suggested layout to the right.
Panel 1
The time traveller stands on a hill of dead bodies, looking at the apocalyptic city that stretches out before him. This panel references Page 8, panel 3 and stands in stark contrast with it. Where Page 8, panel 3 was one of hope symbolized by the rising sun, this is one of death and destruction, symbolized by the mountain of corpses and the destroyed city beyond it. To his right we see the beam of the cross that will be shown more clearly in panel 2.
Breyfogle’s panel to the left captures a potential pose for Future (of course, our hero does not have a cape).
CAPTION
...and am carried into a world that cannot wake up from its nightmare.
CAPTION:
So many religions on Earth believe that there is a God that redeems sinners. They forget to mention that, if there is such a God, he has a breaking point. A point after which no sin can be forgiven.
Panel 2
Low angle shot of the Time Traveler, camera starts midway his torso. He looks up at a man in the left of the panel. He hangs above him, crucified to a cross, his body a dark shadow against the hellish red sky behind him.
CAPTION:
I know. Because I met a God once. And he failed us.
CAPTION:
You thought you were a god, poor friend. So he crucified you like the christ you once believed in to set an example.
Panel 3
The mountain of dead bodies has come alive and the time traveler loses his footing, looking surprised at the moving mountain below him. Hands grab his legs in an attempt to pull the time traveller in their midst.
To the left there is a shot of Aspen by Jim Lee that sort of illustrates the pose of Future losing his footing. Aspen looks up, Future would be looking down, but the arms are spread in surprise, the left foot is sinking in mountain as it opens beneath him, while the right foot still has some of its footing.
As for the living dead, feel free to draw them as you like best, just make sure that it’s clear that these bodies have been decaying for a while.
CAPTION:
Rest in peace. Soon I will join you.
