Make them miss you when you're gone
When promoting their comics, many people shout about their books at the top of their lungs. Unfortunately many of these same people manage to put their audience off through too much posting. It just becomes so much spam.
If you want to be successful as a promoter, seek to create relationships where everyone benefits. Ask yourself: is my message self-serving or does it add value to the lives of my audience?
A good rule of thumb is, if people don't miss your updates once you stop posting them, you're probably doing it wrong. Not just because it's unethical to heap senseless noise into people's feeds and inboxes, but also because people will start to tune you out, and that's the last thing you need.
Market your books by creating value for your audience. Peak their interest. Make them laugh or cry. Offer an "aha" moment. If you aren't doing that, you're most likely shooting yourself in the foot.
