The Making Of
Script by Lorenz Lammens
PAGE 9
Panel 1
Close up of the girl’s face, with big, sad puppy eyes.
YOUNG GIRL:
Why did you leave me?
Panel 2
He puts his fingers through the fence, reaching for her and looks at her saddened face (close up of their faces).
TIME TRAVELLER:
Daddy never left you, pumpkin.
TIME TRAVELLER:
I am always looking out for you. Daddy just wants you to know he loves you. Everything I have done was for you. To give you the best life possible.
Panel 3
Close up of their touching straddled hands - this is all we see in this panel.
YOUNG GIRL:
Then why don't you come back?
TIME TRAVELLER:
Because that is the one thing I can't do.
Panel 4
He rests his forehead on her forehead through the fence, their hands are still touching.
TIME TRAVELLER:
I love you, honey. I always have. I always will.
Panel 5
Close up of the two faces, their noses practically touching through the wire, the man looking pleading at the daughter - her hand is still pushing through the fence, he is retracting his.
TIME TRAVELLER:
I must go.
Panel 6
He walks away, head bowed down in regret, body in a James Dean type of slouch, while the girl pushes herself against the fence, watching him go. In this panel we see Frank’s full body, slightly angled to the right of the viewer, and the girl behind him, grabbing the fence with both hands, pulling at the fence as if wanting to rip it apart, her face alarmed, pleading, as she belts from the depth of her lungs:
YOUNG GIRL (exclamation):
Daddy! Please don't go! Daddy? Please…
Panel 7
Extreme close up of Frank’s face, we cannot see the contours of his head, tear flows from the right eye of the man. His face is angled to the right of the viewer.
