The Making Of
Script by Lorenz Lammens
Panel 1
He falls through a tree. The branches break under his weight slowing down his deadly descent. (image to right shows the suggested body posture with Future trying to grab hold of the branches).
TIME TRAVELLER (thought):
I shouldn't worry. I know the time and place of my death.
Panel 2
The man hits the ground hard.
TIME TRAVELLER (thought):
Doesn't stop this from hurting though…
Panel 3
We see the Time Traveller from far behind, standing on a hill, his silhouette outlined by the rising sun. This panel and panel 1 on page 14 are tied together, as this is a panel of hope, page 14 panel 1 is its mirror image. A panel of desolation.
TIME TRAVELLER (thought):
I know what I must do. Go to the place where I will die. That's where he who destroys all futures is.
TIME TRAVELLER (thought):
I am so afraid….
Panel 4
CAPTION:
One hour later
The man looks out at a school yard where children are playing. On the right hand side picture 1 shows the perspective of him looking at the gate, picture 2 shows the scene behind the gate and picture 3 shows him watching with an insecure, James Dean type slouch, both anticipating and dreading contact.
TIME TRAVELLER (thought):
One last goodbye before I go.
Panel 5
A young girl notices him and runs towards him. He stoops down, waiting for her to approach. The girl looks like a 6 yr old version of the girl in picture 2 (India Eisley) on the right hand side.
YOUNG GIRL (exclamation):
DADDY!
Daddy, you came back!
Panel 6
They are separated by a meshed fence. He kneels down and looks at her. We see both of them side on, a close up of their faces pressed close to each other. The girl looks up at him in wonder, questioning if there is something wrong with what she is seeing. This man looks different, older, than the father she once knew. Her face has both a sad longing and a fear.
TIME TRAVELLER:
Oh, sweetheart.
YOUNG GIRL:
You look different. Older.
