A door that opens like folding paper
Just as you thought the door wasn't something we could innovate on much more, along comes Austrian artist Klemens Torggler with a totally new concept. He designed a 4-panel entryway called the Evolution Door that opens and closes in a surprising way at the slightest touch, folding in on itself like 2 pieces of paper.
The door opens
And it closes

Wouldn't want my fingers or hands at the wrong place and time. Not practical. sorry
ReplyDeleteExcellent point. I doesn't seem to do much for security, either
DeleteYeah, and it's funny looking too.
DeleteThis is probably less dangerous than a normal door. And it'd be easy to secure, too, if that was necessary.
To be honest, I think this door is meant to be a kind of showstopper in your house, a conversation piece. It's there more for the art and looking at doorways in new ways than it is there to be practical or secure.
DeleteThe door is would get people talking, but honestly I think it wouldn't be practical for everyone the have.
DeleteI want to see it close.
ReplyDeleteGood point. I've added a gif of the door closing. And no, it's not a reversed gif ;-)
Deletei want to see it close from outside the room
